Kristi Meyer – Personal Trainer
Fitness was not always my job but I ensured it was always a priority. The gym is truly my second home and now, being a part of the EVOLVE Fitness team, I feel more humbled than ever. There is never a dull moment at Evolve Fitness which makes going to work every day a joy. I have found the career of my dreams and would love to show you why!
Growing up, I was raised with increased awareness on nutrition. I witnessed many strict diets, some leading to success, others to insanity. I try not to use the word “diet” because “diet” refers to a short term change, whereas “nutrition plans” are for life. I love the quote, “Nothing tastes as good as fit feels!” Nutrition is more than half the battle to living a fit and healthy life. The excuse I hear the most as to why someone is making poor nutrition choices, is “I don’t have time.” None of us have the time; you have to make time. I was a full time student, a performing member in a modern dance company, and working three jobs; all the while, MAKING time!
Time management and incorporating the clean eating lifestyle into a hectic schedule is one of my specialties. I have a way to ALWAYS make it work. Bring me a problem and I will give you a solution; I dare ya! Cooking is something I enjoy in my spare time, so creating new tasty “clean” recipes for my clients is a common occurrence. The sky is the limit when it comes to eating clean; you just have to be creative and open minded!
When it comes to exercise, I was fortunate enough to witness hard work and dedication in the gym at a young age, and those values were instilled in me. Dedication is something I have always valued in my life. Being dedicated to something prevents distractions from keeping you from reaching your goals. My goals, I was often told, were out of reach, unattainable. I have been a dancer for 11 years, specializing in ballet, pointe, modern, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. Besides coordination, balance, posture, and core strength, I learned great discipline and respect in my dance classes. I knew I always wanted dance and fitness to be a part of my life and even though I was told that was not a practical career to strive for I followed my dream and majored in Dance & Health Education at Illinois State University. I soon realized everything I learned in my education and dance classes could easily be translated into personal training techniques. I am now an AFAA certified personal trainer and loving every minute of it. Had I listened to everyone around me saying “cant” I would not be where I am today.
I truly believe “There are no shortcuts to anyplace worth going.” You have to be willing to make sacrifices and practice good time management. It takes a lot of preparation and dedication. For me, keeping a consistent positive attitude has been my key to success. I am one of the most passionate people you will ever meet and will always go above and beyond to help my clients. I am notorious for giving my clients rides to and from the gym if needed, doing their hair and make-up before work, and letting them borrow my clothes! I am sometimes called, “The fitness nanny”☺. I know I can count on my clients for anything and they can always count on me!
For every excuse you have, I have a solution. If you are looking for someone to pity you and cave to your excuses I am NOT the trainer for you. If you want someone to push you further than you thought possible and allow you to reach your full potential, I am your girl! There is always time in the day for fitness and health. I can promise you, if you want results you will get them. “Today is the day you turn CANT’S into CANS and DREAMS into PLANS.” You ready to EVOLVE?!
